Gerbing's Heated Clothing
Established in 1976, Gerbing's is one of the originators of heated clothing.
Originally developed as motorcycle clothing, Gerbing's has since expanded
their line to include a variety of outdoor wear for fishing, hunting, and
spectator sports.
Gerbing's offers a lifetime warranty on the heating elements on their heated clothing. This warranty, along with Gerbing's long business
history, is a good indicator of the quality of their products. They've built a
solid reputation for dependability on their complete line of heated clothing.
Most of Gerbing's heated clothing uses their GHC High Density Heat
technology. This is a system of heated pads which are distributed around the
garment. Each pad is designed for producing a specific amount of heat, so that
the warmth is distributed evenly without hot spots or cold spots.
The pads are lightweight and extremely durable. They are positioned on the
inner side of the heated clothing to provide maximum warmth.
Power Source
Gerbing's heated clothing is powered by DC 12 volt battery source.
Motorcyclists and snowmobilers can easily plug their heated clothing into their
vehicles power source.
The heated clothing can also be powered by a portable battery pack. Gerbing's
offers three types of batteries: Lithium Ion, NiMH, and SLA. Battery packs allow
the heated clothing to be worn for fishing, hunting, skiing, or spectator
sports.
Types of Heated Clothing
Gerbing makes a full range of heated clothing suitable for many uses. Their
jacket liners and pant liners were the first heated clothing on the market and are
still popular after 30 years. The company also makes other types of heated
clothing such as heated socks, heated gloves, heated pants, heated jackets,
and heated seat cushions for spectator sports.
All of Gerbing's heated clothing can be interconnected so that only one power
source is needed. This is a feature that other heated clothing manufacturers have started to incorporate so that it is currently de facto industry standard thanks to Gerbing's lead.
