Heated Clothes Technology Overview

exo² heated clothes are at the forefront of a new generation of "smart" clothing and textiles. The technology behind exo² heated clothes is FabRocTM - a flexible, robust and safe heat generating material.

FabRocTM is a polymer based material that is lightweight, waterproof, windproof, crushproof and stretchable. FabRocTM is chemically inert making it completely safe for all types of heated clothes. There are no wires in FabRocTM heated clothes so they can be safely used in any kind of environment - even underwater!

exo² heated clothes are powered with Lithium Ion batteries. Our line of motorcycle heated clothes can be optionally powered with a motorcycle battery. Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery technology is used effectively in a wide range of modern electronic devices including cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, and portable computers. Li-Ion batteries have several advantages over other types of rechargeable batteries, and are ideal for cold-weather use since their life span decreases when exposed to heat.

exo² heated clothes will never overheat. One of the unique features of FabRocTM is that as it becomes warmer it draws less current. Once it reaches its maximum temperature it stops drawing electricity, so it is a completely self-regulating system.

FabRocTM is flexible, crunchable, stretchable, waterproof, light-weight and durable. This makes it suitable for a wide range of applications. It is currently used in such products as:

The potential for FabRocTM extends even further. It can be used as a building material to integrate heated flooring into houses. It can be used for medical devices such as wrapping pads for knees, elbows and other joints.

And it doesn't stop there - below is a selection of our Research & Development projects:

  • Thermoknitt - A conductive polymeric yarn allowing our heat technology to be "knitted-in" during glove or mitt manufacture as an all-in-one process [patent applied for].
  • Thermomesh - The arrangement of Fabroc into a mesh which is treated, cut and shaped to achieve the precise coverage and temperature levels required by the customer or application [patent applied for].
