Heated Pants

Get the most out of winter weather with a pair of heated pants.

Heated pants allow you to enjoy outdoor activities like never before. Any kind of outdoor activity can be extended with this type of heated clothing. Forget about rushing inside every 10 minutes to get warmed up. Heated pants will give you the comfort to enjoy any type of outdoor activity no matter how cold it gets.

Two Types of Heated Pants

There are two basic styles of heated pants - regular pants and pant liners. Wear regular heated pants the same as any other pair of pants. Most styles offer the same styling and comfort as a pair of jeans.

Pant liners are meant to be worn underneath your outdoor clothing. This adds a bit of bulk, but in really cold weather the extra insulation can be welcome.

Our recommendation? The reduced bulk of heated pants means they are a good choice for activities such as hunting, hiking, and skiing. Heated pant liners are better suited for motorcycling, boating, and spectator sports.

Power Source

All heated pants and pant liners currently on the market need an electrical power source, as opposed to, say, gloves which may use a radiant heated gel to provide heat.

Heated pant liners intended for motorcycling and boating can be powered by the vehicle's12V battery. If there is no power source to hook into, you're going to have to carry your own in the form of a battery pack.

Forget about regular D cell batteries. They won't provide the juice you need to keep a pair of heated pants warm, at least not for long.

A better choice is a rechargeable battery pack such as Lithium (Li-ion) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH). Lithium Ion batteries are lightweight and can be very thin. They re-charge quickly and have a long battery life. The downside to Lithium Ion batteries for heated clothing is that they have a relatively low power output and are expensive.

Nickel Metal Hydride batteries are also small and lightweight and provide more power than Lithium batteries. Nickel Metal Hydride batteries take longer to charge and their lifespan can be shortened through improper use, but they are much cheaper than Lithium batteries and can be recharged hundreds of times if used properly.
